Buying followers. I’ve seen this topic come up A LOT recently, both in my Instagram feed and in Facebook groups.
My personal opinion? No, no, and MORE NO. Let’s compare:
Buying followers – you spend money to get fake/spam followers who will never buy your products or services or genuinely engage with you. Aka, you spend money to most likely never get money in return for your business and to NOT build any REAL relationships. Not much of an investment.
Organic follower growth – you spend NO money by engaging with your target audience and offering real value, and building trust with your community. This turns followers into customers because they’re real people with real interest in your product or service. Aka, you spend NO money to most likely get money in return for your business. Much more of an investment.
When I lay it out like this, it makes it difficult for me to understand the concept of buying followers. While a higher number of followers may “look good,” it doesn’t reflect well when someone has a high follower account, but little to no real engagement.
While it may seem harsh, I want to add that if you are a business utilizing a social media manager and they recommend buying followers, this social media manager does not have the best interest of your business at heart.
So now I want to know – what are your thoughts on buying followers? If you are pro follower buying, I genuinely want to know your opinion and see it from another point of view!
